The 5th Annual New York Yankees Charity Golf Tournament

Anytime the Yankees are a part of anything, it proves to be a big deal and the 5th Annual New York Yankees/ New Era Pinstripe Bowl Charity Golf Tournament lived up to the hype.

The five man scramble had 37 teams on two different courses at the beautiful Forsgate Country Club in New York.  Teams would be playing on both courses that Forsgate had to offer, Palmer and Banks.  On the Banks Course, this star studded event included big time celebrities such as Johnny Damon, Craig Carton, Kyle Flood, and many New York Giants players.  The Palmer Course held superstars like Boomer Esiason, Cecil Fielder, Lee Mazzilli, and even more Giants players.

The race to the end was as close as it gets on both courses as they came down to tiebreakers. In a competitive environment amongst professional sportsmen, the players swarmed around the TV leaderboards in the clubhouse to see who’d won. Team Paul Miller Audi and Hackensack UMC fought it out at the top of the leaderboard, exchanging birdies left and right.  Paul Miller Audi, led by New York Giants offensive lineman Eric Herman, had an incredible thirteen birdies and finished with a score of 57.  Unfortunately, the tiebreaker for this event went by most eagles and Hackensack UMC finished with an astounding three eagles, giving Boomer Esiason, the former NFL quarterback, and team the victory.

Meanwhile over on the Banks, there was only one team standing between Team New York Giants and first place and that was Johnny Damon’s team, Team New Era Company. Team New York Giants, led by Frank Mara finished with an astounding 56 and stood close by the 18th green frantically staring at the device leaderboard waiting to see if Damon’s team birdied the final hole.  Johnny Damon, a man used to overwhelming pressure from his time as a Major League Baseball player, and his team were up for the challenge.  They birdied their last hole thus forcing a tiebreaker against Frank Mara and company.  Team New Era’s two more eagles just piped Frank Mara’s team.  All in all, it was an incredible day with nail biting finishes across the board but everybody had a fantastic time and truly loved VPAR and the device leaderboards.
